In two days, my family and I will be heading south. Let me tell you, it will be a really nice treat because Michigan decided that cold and snow is okay in April. I love snow, but let’s be honest here: April is spring. NOT winter! So I am really looking forward to sunny weather with temps in the upper 70s, lower 80s.

We are going to Plain Dealing, Louisiana. Why? Because that’s where my dad is! He moved down there a few years ago when he remarried, and although he has made the trip back up to Michigan a couple of times, it has now been almost two whole years since we’ve seen him. Unfortunately, our trip will be short, but it will be sweet.

Something interesting I had recently thought about was that we have not taken the boys out of state! Yes, we’ve vacationed, but it’s always been within Michigan. And I’m not saying that staying in Michigan sucks because our vacations have been really awesome, and our boys have had some really good times and have made some really good memories. But for being travelers, that fact surprised me a little bit. This will be the first time the boys have been out of state and this will be the first time Jeremy and I have been out of state in the last (at least) six years! This was so long overdue!!

I’m not sure how the boys will do, but I’m prepared. I’ve got some activities packed and our van that is rented will have a DVD player. So all in all I’m not worried. I’m super excited to go on vacation and make some awesome memories. I’m also super thrilled to be going to Louisiana because I’ve never been there before in my life. Most importantly though, I’m really, super duper ecstatic that I will be able to see my dad again. It’s his birthday this Friday so what a great time to visit him!

Please pray for our safety! Thank you so much 🙂
